What is PACT®?

PACT® is an abbreviation and a scientific term that stands for Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy. With this method, bacteria, viruses and fungi can be killed off very effectively on skin surfaces, toenails and fingernails.

Assailants become sensitive to light

The microorganisms are stained with a dye that is harmless to human beings, exploiting the fact that they possess a cell wall, whereas the human cell only has a cell membrane. This effect and other effects ensure that the microorganisms are selectively made sensitive to light.

Light kills like an antibiotic or antimycotic

The sensitive microorganisms can now be killed off with light. But why do you need a special light for that? Although the microorganisms are now sensitive, you would have to expose them to light for hours before they die. Nor is it possible to make the light brighter because it would soon become hot. Therefore, only the part of the light that matches the dye, and hence kills off selectively, is »filtered out«. Then it is possible to apply light that is 100 times more intense without it becoming hot. The best solution is to use laser light or high-power LED light. Both are extremely intense and are only limited to a certain colour.
In the case of minor wounds in the mouth, laser light is used because dental pockets and root canals are difficult to access with LED light. LED light is more suitable for wound treatment and nail fungus treatment.

When the fungi, viruses or bacteria have been killed off or considerably reduced, the body can heal the wound, in the mouth, on the skin, or the nail can resume healthy growth. Whenever the microorganism returns, it can be made to disappear again with short treatment. The only side effect: skin, oral mucosa and nail tissue are stained slightly blue but this discolouration disappears on its own after one day.
